In "Facing the demons," Cumpston expertly profiled
a world-class criminal image profiler, Colorado native Jeanne
Boylan.
In "Grammy dude," Cumpston introduced readers
to the local resident who actually makes the Grammy Awards.
And in "Volunteer heroes," Cumpston wrote about
an integral part of the security and safety of rural communities,
their volunteer fire departments.
Cumpston is a native of Colorado. After spending nearly
a decade as a broadcast journalist at television stations
in Missoula, Mont., Bismarck, N.D., and Phoenix, Ariz., she
turned her talents to print when she joined the Grand Junction
Daily Sentinel in 1997.
At the Daily Sentinel, she worked as a humor columnist,
entertainment and feature writer.
She received recognition from the Colorado AP; Colorado
Press Association; IRS Criminal Investigation Denver field
office; North Dakota AP Broadcasters; and the Society of Professional
Journalists.
Cumpston recently left the newspaper to pursue a freelance
writing career.
